How to Make Yourself Safe When Travelling in a Cab

Safety is always a challenge for males and females equally, but it is more challenging when a female travels in a cab alone or with other lady co-passenger. Often the driver is unknown to you, so it is better you take care of your own safety.

Safety starts from one’s home

A few safety tips start from packing your luggage when you are going to travel in a new, unknown place.

  • Take only those items which you require most during the travelling;
  • Luggage should be not so new or so old which can attract anyone easily;
  • Always book a cab instead of standing on road and hiring a cab;
  • Share with your family or friends all information related to travelling such as train or flight details, hotel details and cab details.

Rules to be follow strictly when travelling in a cab

Follow these tips for travelling safely in a cab when you are going out:

  • Do not enter in the cab when someone else is accompanying the driver;
  • If u have GPRS service in your mobile, then feed the destination and keep tracking the way; always prefer to travel with someone’s company who is known to you,
  • If not possible to get someone’s company then keep calling your family or friends and give details like taxi number or any other details which can make them feel that their information is already shared and if they harm you, police can easily track them;
  • If your luggage is kept in the storage section of cab then stand little far from cab and make sure that the trunk is closed and locked,
  • Before you sit inside the cab; quick check for a meter, a radio, a badge, and a door handle; sit in back seat preferably in the middle; windows should be closed; keep mobile in use; keep a local police number in last dialled list.

On the other hand, many taxi drivers are good sources of information about local customs, current events, best restaurants, entertainment, and more. Make use of these information from the driver, but never share precise information about yourself with the driver.

Extra safety needed for females in a cab

The above safety tips are common for male and female travellers equally. Still, there some more safety tips which can be useful for female travellers. Some of them are: avoid travelling in very early morning or when its dark; dress in a comfortable cloth which would avoid extra attraction towards you; avoid wearing more or expensive jewelleries; avoid travelling when you are drunk; always carry a fully charged mobile with enough of balance to call; keep few emergency numbers on top of your dialled list;

To conclude, your life is very precious and many members in your family are waiting for you. So you should always follow the suggestions and avoid taking any shortcuts just to save money, time or just for fun.
