Brooklyn Taxi

Brooklyn a small suburb of northern Sydney , it is located 15 kilometers north of the central business district. It is the northernmost suburb of the Greater Sydney Metropolitan Area is part of the North Shore region and is under the local government area of Hornsby Shire.

The general area was once known as Peat’s Ferry Crossing until January 1884 until the plan of survey for the subdivision of the land owned by Peter and Wiullima Fagan was registered with the suburb name of Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Hotel followed later in the year. The town came into existence when the main northern railway line arrived in 1887 when the single track section north from Hornsby was completed.

Brooklyn sits on a narrow strip of tidal waterfront land aligned east west along the southern bank of the Hawkesbury River. The town has been most famous for the farming of the Sydney Rock Oyster.
