Busby is a suburb in south-western Sydney it is located 37 kilometers south west of the central business district, in the local government area of the City of Liverpool. Neighbouring suburbs include Bonnyrigg, Green Valley, Miller, Heckenberg, Sadleir, Cartwright and Hinchinbrook.
Named after pioneer James Busby a grape grower in the 1820′s, he was the son of John Busby an engineer who had constructed Sydney’s second water supply from Centennial Park to Hyde Park, that had been called the Busby’s Bore.
The suburb of Busby was part of the Green Valley housing estate that was developed during the 1960′s and 1970′s. Busby has a high school (James Busby High) and two primary schools (Busby Public School and Busby West Public School). Green Valley public School is nearby. Whitlam Park in Busby has been named after the former Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam.
