Greenfield Park is located 36 kilometers west of the Sydney central business district it is in the local government area of the City of Fairfield and is a part of the Greater Western Sydney region. The Cabrogal tribe of Aboriginal people a sub group of the Gandangara tribe lived in the Fairfield area of over 30,000 years. In the early 19th century European settlement began. Greenfield was named after a major road that cut through the council ward of St John’s. It wasn’t till August 1979 the Greenfield Park officially became a suburb.
The largest Assyrian Church in Australia St Hurmizd Cathedral is located in Greenfield Park; there is also a shopping centre, St John’s Park high School and St Hurmizd Assyrian Primary School. The area is surrounded by the neighbouring suburbs of Bossley Park, Edensor Park, Bonnyrigg, Prairiewood, Wakeley and St John’s Park.
