Greystanes Taxi

Greystanes is located 29 kilometers west of the Sydney central business district it is in the local government area of the City of Holroyd. The area was originally known as Prospect Hill and was the site of the first land grants given in 1791 to emancipated convicts. It was during this time there was unrest and confrontations between the Darug people and the new settlers, with the Darug people being led my Pemulwuy in a form of guerrilla warfare against the settlers.

The area was later divided into Prospect to the west of Greystanes Creek and Greystanes to the east of the creek. Nelson Lawson named the area Grey Stanes. After outcrops of Basalt on Prospect Hill Grey being the colour of the rocks and Staines being the Scottish word for stones. The area was mostly used for poultry farming in the early 20th century until in the 1950′s and 1960′s it started to develop into a residential suburb.
