Hammondville is located 31 kilometers west of the Sydney central business district, it is in the local government area of the City of Liverpool, and it is part of South Western Sydney. During the great depression Hammondville was originally a settlement for destitute families. It was founded in 1933 by Minister Robert Hammond.
Hammondville now is home to many sporting fields for sports including soccer, netball, football, cricket and baseball. The suburb also sits alongside the New Brighton Golf Club and is home to the SPORTIES Moorebank Sports club. Hammondville is surrounded by Liverpool, Holsworthy, Wattle Grove, Moorebank, Voyager Point, Milperra, East Hills and Pleasure Point.
Hammondville has many small park areas with children’s playgrounds -. The Lieutenant Cantello Reserve was opened as a part of the bicentennial celebrations in 1988.It was unveiled by the citizens of Bankstown the memorial is in memory of the lieutenant who died in a plane crash on June 8 1942 while defending Australia.
