Horningsea Park is located 39 kilometers south west of the Sydney central business district: it is in the local government area of the City of Liverpool and is a part of the Greater Western Sydney region
British grazier Joshua John Moore in 1819 was granted 500 acres of land in what was then known as Cabramatta. He named his property after his birthplace, the village of Horningsea in Cambridge shire in England. In the 1830′s he built his house, which is still standing to this day on Horningsea Park Drive. Until 1996 the suburb and part of neighbouring Hoxton Park was all farmland, then the area was subdivided up for housing. Liverpool council named the suburb after Moore’s estate. There are two schools in Horningsea Park the John Edmondson High School and the catholic school – The Holy Spirit Primary School it is located behind the large Carnes Hill Marketplace shopping centre.
