Hunters Hill Taxi

Hunters Hill is located 9 kilometers north west of the Sydney central business district. It is the administrative centre for the local government area of the Municipality of Hunters Hill. Hunters Hill can also be spelt Hunter’s Hill. Hunters Hill was named after the second Governor of New South Wales John Hunter who was in office between 1795 and 1800.

The area was settled in 1835. Mary Reiby was one of the earliest settlers  her cottage Fig Tree House was built on land that fronted the Lane Cove River. Reiby Street has been named after her. During the 1840′s many convicts and bushrangers who escaped from Cockatoo Island would hide in the Hunters Hill area. Sitting on a small peninsula that separates the Parramatta and Lane Cover Rivers, Hunters Hill can be reached by bus or ferry. The areas Aboriginal name that means meeting of the waters is Mookaboola or moocooboola.
