Henley Taxi

Henley is located 9 kilometers west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of The Municipality of Hunter’s Hill and is the North Shore area. Henley sits on the northern side of the Parramatta River.

Henley was first known as Blandville after Doctor William Bland (1789-1868) who had been transported for killing a fellow naval officer during a dual. Bland arrived in Sydney in 1814 but was pardoned the following year and began a private practice. While Bland stayed living in the city, he owned land in the area that in 1866 he later subdivided.

The suburb has been named after Henley in Oxfordshire England. It sits on the banks of the Thames River. Henley sits on the banks of the Parramatta River that had been known as the Thames of the Antipodes. Nearby suburbs have also been named after townships that reside alongside the Thames in England Putney, Greenwich and Woolwich.
