Ingleside is located 28 kilometers north of the Sydney central business district, this northern Sydney suburb is in the local government areas of both Pittwater Council and Warringah Council. Ingleside is part of the Northern Beaches area; surrounding suburbs include Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Terry Hills, Belrose, Bayview, Oxford Falls, Mona Vale, Elanora Heights and Cromer.
Ingleside house was built in the 1880′s by Baron Von Beirenm an industrial chemist of American and Dutch background. It is after his house the suburb has been named. He specialised in explosives and gunpowder founding a factory called the Australian Gunpowder and Explosives Manufacturing Company.Taking its name from the factory is Powder Works Road. The area is mostly bush land and semi rural, with housing developments in the area increasing. The Animal Welfare League of New South Wales has two animal shelters in Ingleside.
