Brighton-Le-Sands is a suburb in southern Sydney, it is 13 kilometers from the central business district located on the western shore of Botany Bay it is also known as Brighton or Brighton beach. It is part of the St George area and is in the local government area of the City of Rockdale. The Bicentennial monument commemorating the arrival of the First Fleet in Botany Bay stands in Cook Park which has been named after Captain Cook.
Brighton-Le-Sands is a mix of low and high density housing, high rise apartments, medium density flats, café’s, restaurants and retail shops. The area is known for its Greek-Australian background which is reflected in the many Greek café’s restaurants and businesses. For this reason it has been dubbed Little Greece by the Bay. The Greek Australian Sports Hall of Fame was established commemorating the 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens.
